At Dr. Matthew S Ng Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, our Coquitlam dentists use dental bonding as a non-invasive cosmetic procedure to help restore a damaged, decayed or discoloured tooth.
What is Dental Bonding?
Dental bonding is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure where your dentist bonds tooth-coloured composite resin to your tooth to match your surrounding natural teeth.
Dental bonding is most often used to repair discoloured or chipped teeth, but it is also often used to close gaps between teeth, to make teeth appear longer, or to change their shape or colour, making them look more symmetrical.
The Bonding Procedure in Coquitlam
Usually we can complete a dental bonding procedure in one visit as each tooth typically takes 30 to 60 minutes to apply.
To prepare your teeth for bonding, your dentist will apply an etching solution to the surface of your tooth, and then apply a composite resin that matches the colour of your teeth.
The composite resin is molded into shape and hardened in place with a high-intensity curing light.
Dental Bonding in Coquitlam: The Benefits
For minor cosmetic dental issues, such as cracked, discoloured, or gapped teeth, dental bonding may help address it.
After your dentist has finished the procedure, your teeth should look natural, especially if the tooth being filled is visible when you smile.
The composite also strengthens your teeth, so you can enjoy meals without having to worry about applying too much pressure on your tooth and breaking or cracking it again.
