At Dr. Matthew S Ng Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, our Coquitlam dentists use dental crowns and bridges to help restore your smile.
What are Crowns & Bridges?
Crowns and bridges can help restore the normal appearance and function of your smile.
These dental restorations help fill the space left when teeth are missing. They can also help you maintain your natural facial structure, as well as give you back your ability to speak and chew properly.
By repairing structural problems such as damaged or missing teeth using a dental crown or bridge, our dentists can help restore your smile – and your oral health.
Dental Crowns
When a damaged or decayed tooth needs to be restored, your dentist may cap it with a hollow, artificial tooth known as a dental crown. These dental restorations restore your existing natural tooth to its original size, shape, and colour.
Dental crowns help the function, strength, and appearance of a fractured tooth that may otherwise be lost.
Crowns are very durable and may consist of a number of materials, including metal and porcelain. They should look and function similar to natural teeth. If cared for properly, they can last 10 years or more.
Dental Bridges
The aptly named dental bridge is a natural-looking dental restoration that "bridges" a gap of missing teeth in your mouth.
Consisting of one or more artificial teeth, the bridge will be attached to the teeth on either side of the gap to fill the space.
A bridge can help prevent your other teeth from shifting positions to fill the vacated space, which may lead to more serious dental issues such as gum disease. Because they are custom-made, they are barely noticeable.
